![]() Narrowboat Maid of the Mist Blog - November 2011We hope you enjoy reading about our travels around the British Inland Waterways1st - Still at Wheaton Aston today. 2nd - 3rd Back to Gnosall. 4th - 7th Norbury Junction. Norbury Junction lies about one mile to the south east of the Staffordshire village of Norbury. Named after the canal junction between the main line of the Shropshire Union Canal and the now defunct Newport Branch which ran south-west through Newport to link to the now abandoned Shrewsbury Canal at Wappenshall Junction. The first lock on the old Newport Branch has been turned into a dry-dock. There is a pub, the Junction Inn, a boatyard with full facilities for boaters that includes day boat hire as well as a cafe and gift shop for landlubbers. There is an adjacent British Waterways maintenance depot. 8th - To Fir Trees above Bridge 50. 9th -11th Stayed in Market Drayton. Had our flu jabs at Murrays Pharmacy, just to the side of Morrisons. Had to pay because couldn't get an appointment at our own doctors when we were in Wheaton Aston. 12th - Did the Adderley Locks today. The sun was shining and it was a nice cruising day. Moored below lock 2 on the Audlem Flight. Adderley Moorings, by Adderley Wharf Bridge 69 (5 Day) is where we saw a rare(ish) dab chick or little grebe in Jan 2010. Adderley Wharf Farm Shop is located at Lock 1, Adderley Locks on the Shropshire Union canal. If you're cruising by call in for their top notch free range eggs! They may be on display at the lock by the BW shed but if not ring Simon on 07710 312747 or Alison on 07947 389098 for availability. They also sell home produced: Open 7 Days - Early till late 13th - Just did the 10 locks to the Shroppie Fly. Got a Tesco delivery tomorrow after which we will move down the last of the Audlem locks and moor up for a day or two. 14th - 27th Moved very slowly towards Christleton. Been here now for a few days and plan to move to Boughton tomorrow. We will stay there for about six days, and because the mooring rings are in concrete we will hopefully have reasonable weather to tidy up the gunwhales. They are suffering badly from lock rash.
